A few Clarence Day ago we had a snowstorm that endure about two days and leave us with a good 12 - in of snow — we had snow , then flash-frozen pelting , then sleet and then more snow — with quiet in between . When the precip issue forth down like this it get the tree and shrubs to bow down with the big weight and many of them break down and crack . Although sometimes it seems brutal , this is one of Mother Nature ’s natural agency of pruning . We had numerous trees go down and many limbs , so that we had to chainsaw our way out of the private road . That is after we shovel off the back porch and steps to get to the campaign .
With the crunchy auditory sensation of snow under my thrill , I move around the yard and garden , with a Calluna vulgaris and softly sweep and stir the heavy lashings from my shrub , so that they can stand back up . It is awing to me that our bamboo , crape myrtle and Sambucus nigra , as well as many big limb on maple , cornel , cherries , and conifer , bended and arched down with huge weight , will stand back up as soon as the snow melts . Lots of physical activity in dusty atmospheric condition like this makes one aweary and wishful of pose by the woodstove and run through warm robust comfort food . see out theCurried Vegetable Soupthat I made while we were without power for 24 hour . It made the house smell real good and the pungency from the spice actually does warm up the body , as well as the mortal .

I am attaching a photo pictorial of some coke scenes for those of you in southerly climate so you’re able to see what you are missing . What I am missing are green growing plants in the garden . Only a few more months of this and I will be out there digging in the garden earth . In fact , in the next few week , I ’ll be in the nursery starting some flats of cool weather condition greens and herbaceous plant . In the interim , I ’ll record my garden books and magazines and pour over the 2011 seed catalogues . I am grateful for the snow that is fill again our water board . And for the power , which we take for grant , so that I may sit around here and frame this web log .
