The Learning Garden , Los Angeles , CAFirst stead right to vote - recipient ; winner of a $ 3,000 subsidization .
For over 18 years , The Learning Garden has connected the community with constituent horticulture , hand - on gardening therapy and refinement practices . The garden also has longstanding partnership with the UC Master Gardeners Program and Yo San University of Traditional Medicine , bring students and the community closer to nature for healing arts and Education Department on the benefits of plants in one ’s life . This uniqueness will be extended by the raw Rootworks initiative . Rootworks provides genial wellness therapy to the community through garden - based classes and activities . get together modern therapeutic practices and hands - on horticulture projects , the program afford participants holistic support as they overcome addiction – targeting stem conditions such as anxiousness , depression , and tension .
