We live in Simcoe , Ontario , just northward of Lake Erie . Our Hardiness Zone is 6a , but because of our forested belongings we have a bit of amicroclimateand are capable to grow some plants that would not do well in this country otherwise . We have been gardening here for almost 40 years and have been featured in many Canadian magazines . We have two koiponds ; progress the last one was a huge undertaking , as many careen had to be get in . The pool features two skimmers , a peat bog with an undergravel blowout organisation , and a large waterfall . We have VERY big koi , and they eat a pile . We also have peacocks , Pete and Pat , and have enjoyed seeing them raise their many progeny .
We have over 175rhododendrons , over 100hydrangeas , and many unique plants . Many of the plants have beenpropagatedon the property fromseed , layering , orcuttings .

lately we have experimented with growing cucumber and umbrella magnolia(MagnoliaacuminataandMagnolia tripetala , Zones 4–8 ) from seeded player and are anxiously awaiting our first blooms . We have over 25 maples , but the most stunning is the ‘ Suminagashi ’ Japanese maple(Acerpalmatum‘Suminagashi ’ , Zone 5 - 9 ) , with a brilliantfall color .
Linda was n’t jolly about the sizing of those fish !

Northern Lights azaleas ( Rhododendronhybrids , Zones 3–7 ) were cover to be able to withstand extreme winter cold and still blossom heavily each spring . As you may see , the colors are pretty wonderful too .
Many of our beaver bean works ( Ricinuscommunis , Zones 9–11 or as an one-year ) have bring forth tremendous leaves , and we have taken to making concrete decorative leaves from them !
