Life is settling down with the new Lamb , which really are n’t so raw anymore ! They ’ve all had their first sexually transmitted disease ofCDT vaccineand are exhaust grain and hay like pro .
We did have one sad event , though . One of the lambs go just this week , very unexpectedly . This little ewe had had some problem almost from day one , such as pink eye that affected both eye that may have impaired her vision in one eye .
We had taken her to our large - animate being ex-serviceman for that . But so when she began walking falteringly and fall down this calendar week , we occupy her in again .

Best Efforts
The vet was as perplexed as we were , especially when we found her temperature was 105 academic degree F ! ( That is very , very high . Normal is 102 to 103 level F ) . The lamb was given two warm antibiotic , some nuisance fireman and a stroke of vitamin B12 .
I asked the vet what the B12 was for . She explained that she suspected that the lamb had neurological problems that had been present from birth . She explain that the B12 might help improve the lamb ’s unfitness to stick out well , as well as some shaking symptoms .
The veteran also say the lamb ’s weight was estimable and she did n’t seem to have any other issues . So we went home with a bag full of syringes of vitamin B12 and pain reliever . We also got instruction manual on how often to administer the injection .

Dealing with Death
woefully , she died the next day . When you have livestock , dying animal are something you inevitably have to look at with , even when you do your undecomposed .
We separated the lamb ’s mother and put her in with a belittled group of yearling ewes that are only on pasture and hay right now . Previously , we had fed her and all the ewes bring about milk caryopsis each daybreak . The texture helps to keep the ewe ’s Milk River supply , which is want by thirsty young Elia .
By eat her only hay , the ewe ’s milk supply should dry up fairly quickly . I have been out to check on her once a day just to check that that is happening .
Of course , the dear get food grain as well . They also make out hay and boy , do they love going out into the immature lea to nibble on grass with their mammy !

Joys of Growing Lambs
It ’s fun to check the lambs gather together in the discipline and “ string up out ” with each other . It ’s a lot like human children at a large gather . They find the other young single far more absorbing than the adults .
Except , of class , when it ’s time to suck . Then each of the Lamb will run to its mother and get close for a piece .
Our one bottle lamb is nearly wean . She is about a month and a half old , which is the age at which you are supposed to ablactate them from the bottle . Most of the information I have study says the lamb should be 20 to 30 pound or between 30 to 45 days sometime .
I have not weighed her , but I am guessing she is nigh to 20 or 25 pound .
At any rate , the amount of milk I declare oneself has been drastically contract … but that has not reduced her ebullience for seeing me and a bottle in my manus ! She is quite noisy when she thinks it is time for a bottle , even if it is not due for an hr or two !
All in all , our lamb are grow well and are take off to wait more like the grownup sheep they will presently become .
