Although ‘ Winter Sun ’ provide great leaf , color , and texture throughout the year , its real clip to radiate is from Halloween until after Thanksgiving , when its showy , bright yellow flush bunch open , persisting even in subfreezing temperature . You will not be disappointed in the colourful , fragrant November showing , and the bee will thank you . This plant is drought resistant when established , and at least in my garden , the cervid pay no attention to it at all .

This is one of the most comment - on plant in my garden . It pass on a flurry of white , slightly fragrant flowers in April , displays glossy foliage in summer , and from fall to wintertime really shows off . Leaf drop exposes the fruit : extremely aromatic fuzzy oranges the size of it of ping - pong orchis ( bring a bowlful inside ) that are very seedy , gustatory sensation caustic , and do n’t have much succus . With light-green barque striate with white , very writhen fork , and long recurve thorns , this tree diagram has a prominent silhouette when defoliate . flora where it will have elbow room to mature , as pruning is not well-fixed .
4. Autumn Gentian

This natural selection is not easy to find and not light to acquire , but it is well worth the effort . Mine are never noticed until mid - October , when the bloom begin to unfold . They are the bluest blue you have ever control , a real treat in the fall garden . There is nothing screaming “ Look at me ! ” with this gentian , but what a welcome sight it is as the garden time of year fare to an end . Mine blossom well into December , with the bloom block then unfreeze with no harm to the show .
