Jeff Carlton has partake pic from his wonderful Tennessee garden with us several times before . If you ’ve leave out them , check some of them outhereandhere . Today ’s he ’s think about the end of the summertime .
It has been a very long , spicy , pie-eyed , and stressful summer , and I am quick for a very longsighted fall — not wintertime ! Some thing are still record colour , while others are looking exhausted . Here are a few shots from around the backyard this past weekend . succulent carry the show this metre of class , so I include a distich of shot of those .
Echeveria‘Topsy Turvy ’ ( Zones 9–11 ) . We usually think of succulents for their beautiful foliage , but this one is depict that it can put on quite a flower presentation as well .

An unknown echeveria cultivar showing some more really lovely flowers .
A collection of mixed succulents , look into what Jeff call his “ nutcase ” garden area .
A mixed planting of dissimilar cannas . canna are always a top alternative for color through a long , hot summer . They love the heat and will look terrific supply they get plenty of pee .

Ornamental winter sweet ‘ Lizzie ’ ( Oreganumleavigatum‘Lizzie ’ , Zones 6–8 ) order on a really spectacular floral display . Ornamental marjoram are unremarkably quite popular with bee and other pollinators , so they ’re a smashing choice for most any garden .
A nest of hen - and - chicks ( Sempervivumspp . , Zones 4–11 ) . While many popular succulents such as echeveria have to amount deep down for the wintertime in most climate , hen - and - chicks are very insensate tolerant and can live outside all year for the vast bulk of gardeners .
‘ Scarlet Belle ’ ewer plant ( Sarracenia‘Scarlet Belle ’ , Zones 5–9 ) is a carnivorous plant with beautiful leaves that attract both the nurseryman ’s attention and the attention of the many insect that it lures to their deaths .
