In a Vase on Monday. A Book Club Posy.

I think my friend are probably sick of the dahlia which have been filling my vase since July . They are miraculously still blooming away even after a light hoar . ( The dahlias , not my friends . ) But for my Book Club day I chose a slight posy of all the little November survivors to put on the table .

In the next picture you’re able to see a self seededScabiosa , bottom rightfield and theDianthuswhich was produce from seed and has bloomed all summer long . On the top left of the next picture there is the dainty lilacCalamintha grandiflora‘Elfin Purple ‘ which blooms for age and ejaculate around abundantly . The fluffy blue bloom in the bottom veracious quoin belowSalvia‘Hot lips ’ is the tall growingAgeratum corymbosumwhich is tender so has to come in for the winter . It is light from film editing if you forget .

There are four   unlike salvias here , the adorable velvetySalvia leucanthawhich come into rosiness late in the time of year and is now in the greenhouse for safety .

Salvia leucantha‘Purple Velvet ’

Salvia greggi‘Icing Sugar ’ is a endearing two quality pink . Salvia‘Love and Wishes ’ looks good with the dark purple ofSalvia jamensis‘Nachtvlinder ’ and Plectranthus . I have used a few sprigs ofLiriope   muscariwith violet drop . There are two vervain , the tallVerbena bonariensiswhich handily seeds itself everywhere and the shorterVerbenahastata .

To pit the purples I have usedSolanum laxum‘Creche au Pape ’   which has lilac bud and opens to white and lilac flower . It has been bloom for ages now and does n’t show any sign of kibosh .

What else is there ?   A pair of asters , Penstemon‘King George ’ which is a bit too reddened , a knautia , a spiderflower ,   a bellflower , a rose ,   some bottleful brushes of aPennisetum villosum .   Once we get a right frost it will be toilsome to make a nosegay , but for now there is stack to pick out from .

As this is for a book club , there has to be bar   so my chef made us an apple patty which was much appreciated . I have to let in   to those who opine I am rather elevated having my own chef ; I am referring to my lovely Pianist . These days he does all the cooking in this sign and   I am extremely grateful . I favor to be mooch outside .

I ’ve never give a formula before as this is rigorously a horticulture blog but it is so toothsome and goes with my Book Club Posy .

And the book?Meet me at The Museumby Anne Youngson . I read one review which said this is a luminous book about former lovemaking which make water it sound like a geriatric chick alight . This is misleading because this is a short Holy Scripture which is multilayered and is about life , end , clip , loneliness , friendly relationship , making love , children . It makes you question what is the purpose of living and how to result a meaningful life . It is about the importance of myth , ritual and forfeiture . It is about so much and so beautifully save . We all loved it .

Thanks to Cathy , the fag of the vase for hosting this meme . Do arrest outRambling in the Gardento see what Cathy and all   her fellow partisan have been finding to put in their November vases .

Your garden is still very productive , Chloris ! I was surprised to find you have an Ageratum corymbosum , which I also grow . Mine only blossom in Spring , however .

Thanks for the playscript sum-up – I ’ve added it to my “ to read ” Pinterest page . My own volume nine has been pulled aside by various challenge facing its members , although we ’re reassembling for a post - election download soon . Whether that ’ll be a festivity or a vociferation - fest remains to be seen but I ’m hop-skip we can get back on a even reading schedule ( not that I ever check reading on my own ) .

That is a beautiful little posy , and I ’m very jealous . I have very few efflorescence still blooming at this point – it ’s amazing that there are any at all with repeat frosts and freezes . Your orchard apple tree cake await yummy , too !
