If you are search for a unsubdivided , efficient way to ripen , ironical or bring around saucy produce coming from your garden , building your own 2×4 crop rack might just be the ticket !
Go into the home base of any esurient gardener during harvest time season , and you will likely encounter veggie everywhere . And we think of everywhere !
On the counter , on tables , on the back porch , and even in the garage or basement . The simple accuracy is , when harvest season hit , vegetables come on fast .

And alas , it can be hard determination blank to keep them all ripening and safe . peculiarly if you are hold back for enough green groceries to can or preserve . See : How To bear on The Garden By Freezing , Canning & dry out
We know the scenario of spill over vegetables stashed anywhere and everywhere all too well . We have used kitchen table , terrace tables , benches and every loose countertop we could detect to keep a harvest time .
Especially when it came to finding space for our tomatoes to ripen off the vine . So to help , a few years back , we create a small table top harvest stand from ironware material and a 2×4 figure .

We were enjoyably surprised how well it worked . The undetermined grid of the hardware cloth worked perfectly for mature and dry vegetables . allowing melodic phrase to circulate around the veggie .
But unfortunately , the single frame plainly was n’t large enough to manage all of our crop . Inevitably , we would still end up with vegetables eventually covering the kitchen table and countertops .
So this twelvemonth , we decided to expand the wheel with an entire shelf , and has it ever worked wonders !

It not only help keep our harvest storage more organized , the multiple shelves and open air of the hardware fabric is working like magic as well for debauched ripening of our tomatoes .
Creating Our (4) Shelf 2×4 Harvest Rack
The drying wrack is extremely easy to build using just a few basic fabric and creature . We created our entire rack from just ( 7 ) 2x4x8 ’s , a2′ x 25′ roll of ironware fabric , and a single 1 x 8′ furring strip . As for tools , it ’s pretty easy to piece with a canonical adage and a staple gun .
At just a bit over 3′ panoptic and 2′ deep , it fit into small infinite . But with 4 separate racks , it has 24′ square feet of space for ripening and dry . It can also easy be modified if larger or more racks are needed .
To build it , we used the same stack leg method acting as we do for our DIY tables and potting terrace . Not only are they extremely strong , but they make gathering a duck soup too .

For any one wanting the complete detailed architectural plan , we did upload and include them in our Etsy Plans shop . See : Step By footstep Harvest Rack Plans
Perhaps best of all , when it ’s not in use , we ’ll keep our 2×4 Harvest Rack in the garden shed to store our summertime can and hanging basket containers . And who ca nt utilize extra shelf in a garage , barn or garden shed for that !
