The new function reflect Jiffy ’s commitment to being an ever more sustainable society . Q : Hello Richard , what ’s your background?A : I studied gardening and have been work out in the industry ever since . I link up Jiffy in 2001 as UK Sales & Marketing Manager , then became European Sales Manager in 2011 .

Q : What can you tell apart us about your fresh role?A : I ’m thrilled that Jiffy has committed to the full to supporting this most important challenge . I am now control we create , enforce and monitor a full-bodied , integrated sustainability scheme for the group .

Q : Why did Jiffy change its approach to sustainability?A : Jiffy wants to be a leader in sustainable gardening . We date the need to take a more structured , global approaching to accelerate our progress . This is an exciting time for Jiffy to build on the basic environmentally well-disposed nature of our ware .

Q : How will it profit customers?A : Thanks to my sales agreement background , I fuck our customers face air pressure to quantify and ameliorate their sustainability performance . We are attached to supporting them even more and to working intimately with them to develop sustainability improvement together .

Q : Can you give us an example?A : supervene upon individual - use dodo plastics is a challenge Jiffy has been working on for age and which we are now accelerating . For case , customer can already select to corrupt Jiffy-7 Pellets and Jiffy Growblocks with netting made from PLA netting . Based on cornflour , PLA netting is made from 100 % renewable industrial plant - base materials . It ’s fossil plastic - free , GMOfree , and certified biodegradable and compostable .

Q : What are the next steps?A : Jiffy is converting all standard Growblock and Jiffy-7 Pellet product to PLA web in 2021 . This will reduce our annual fossil plastic consumption and nursery accelerator emissions by around 100 gobs each . We are well on our agency to achieve that finish – we presently habituate it on 95 % of the Growblocks and 65 % of the Pellets , up from 90 % and 25 % a year ago .
