Garden fiesta and Viva Tequila!
What ’s your favourite garden color or combination ? Mine change with the season , calendar week , and even the hour .
Right now , it ’s hard to resist that current cat cove combo — how ’s that for beginning rhyme — pinkish sway rise ( Pavonia lasiopetela ) andCalylophus berlandieri , where sun beats down on them many hour .
I ’m just as joyful about this fiddling mathematical group in the novel front bed .

I seeded annual pink Cosmos to fill in while the perennials grow up . Already , I ’m a devotee of it with recurrent artemisia and yearly ‘ Black Pearl ’ pepper ( though it returns in balmy wintertime ) .
The hideaway bed hold out for a icteric / orange tree ensemble in daylily time of year , while ‘ Patrick ’ genus Abutilon carries my orangish torch almost all year . Okay , I let in , I love orange and its various hues .
I ’m a real fan of ‘ David Verity ’ cuphea , too , though I do n’t have any , until I can snag the Sunday and sound drain that cupheas like .

Daphne makes Cuphea her choice of the week , since they feed in butterfly , bees and hummingbirds in summertime . Bat - faced ( bat face ) cuphea ( Cuphea llavea ) is a darling combo of bolshie and purple that hovers at this garden ’s moulding .
It was inLucinda Hutson ’s gardenlong ago that I fall for abutilons . I also fell for herHerb Garden Cookbook , my go - to book for plant info , recipe , and Lucinda ’s vivacious story . Every page encourages my culinary and industrial plant creative thinking . Tom reports that her Mustard and Mexican stack marigold chicken is one of his “ book grade ” faves .
Her latest adventuretakes us on a enlivened tour of Mexico ’s agaves , their history , and very tasteful recipes from cantina to cocina .

Lucinda joins Tom this weekfor a fiesta of folklore , the inside level of how agaves ferment into tasty drinks , and which one is tequila ’s single .
On herLife is a Fiesta site , go over out her upcoming events , formula , and links to article , including her monthly feature inEdible Austin .
We ’ve beg Lucinda ’s garden a couple of time , including her poignantDay of the utter celebration . In 2014 , we ’ll take you on a current enlistment , since our first was pre - YouTube ! For now , here ’s a cute succulent display from an upcycled toy bed frame she found on a AMEX .

Since succulent tend to fiesta a luck , Eric Pedley fromEast Austin Succulentsdemonstrateshow to control the party and pass it along to friendsbefore the wayward plant police step in .
critter can party down on your succulent , too , like on my Macho Mocha mangave .
But who is the real culprit behind this damage?Daphne has the solvent , unite by detective ( aka Extension entomologist)Wizzie Brown . The slight yucca microbe created small speckle with their pierce and suck .

The political party hounds that pan the place ?
Daphne explain when to observe these closemouthed warriors and why not to use snail bait .
On term of enlistment , let ’s head to a romanticistic garden where web designerBob Atchisonand“The Wine Guy ” Rob Mosheinhost the neighborhood every daylight and night .
