Foraging Purple Dead Nettle
Because of its widespread nature , scrounge for purple dead nettle ( Lamium purpureum ) is usually middling easy .
It is native to Europe and Asia , but has become commonplace in North American gardens and brainsick areas .

violet dead nettle is one of those plants that when you see a movie of it , you directly recognise it , but never know what it was called .

This is how I was withplantain – I ’d seen it my total puerility , and up until I was almost 30 years old , before I had any estimation of what it actually was !
I was happy to discover its welfare , just as I was with imperial dead nettle .
It sometimes grows in Brobdingnagian patches , which can be annoying if that patch happens to be your garden , but it does make collecting it easier !

I have a respectable bit of it mature in my backyard , and I see it everywhere when I ’m out on walking . I finally decided to appear it up to see what it was , and was glad to find out that it ’s edible and medicative !
Identifying Purple Dead Nettle
violet idle nettle is in the mint sept , and is called “ dead nettle ” ( or sometimes “ deadnettle ” ) because of its patent resemblance tostinging nettle , minus the sting .
This mix up me more or less , because I do n’t think it really expect like on-key nettles at all , but to each their own .
violet dead nettle is easy to identify with its substantial stalk ( like all mint category flora ) , foggy leaves , and purplish top with little pink bloom .

They are usually fairly low growing , but can sometimes hand up to 8 - 10 inches tall .
Purple Dead Nettle Look-alikes
Purple dead nettle does not have any toxic look - alikes .
It is sometimes confused forhenbit(Lamium amplexicaule ) which is closely touch on and another tasty edible weed .
The main difference between purple deadnettle and Lamium amplexicaule is the arranging of the leaf . Henbit has leave of absence that surround the stem , while violet all in nettle has triangle mould foliage .

Edible Uses of Purple Dead Nettle

In herbal tradition , majestic deadened nettle has been described as having astringent , diuretic , sudorific , and mild laxative properties .
