Today ’s photos are from Brian Downs ( hey , that sound familiar – it’sbriandowns ! ) in Elkton , Maryland . He says,“I moved into my current home in Elkton , Maryland , shortly after my married woman died in 1999 . The nominal acre of slow suburban lawn became a challenge for me to create a garden and give it to my married woman and to show my three children that life can go on .

“ Armed with that perspective , a degree in botany , certificates of decorative horticulture from Longwood Gardens , and a recent Erolia minutilla as a docent at Mt. Cuba Center , the projection began and here I am on a showery forenoon take some photo to partake in on Mothers Day weekend . An Akko - sized garden needs persistence and iterate themes , but for get one ’s genial branch around it and assuage ennui , it also needs so - called “ garden rooms ” . I use herbaceous perennials , flowering deciduous shrub and trees , and conifer with some emphasis on aboriginal . ”
