A common garden problem at the end of a driveway gets a simple but beautiful solution
Hey GPODers !
While it ’s always exciting to see the array of garden bed and plantings disperse throughout someone ’s blank , sometimes the best inspiration can come from a elaborate look at one specific planting that was particularly successful or a gross solution for a slick smear . Today ’s submission is a with child representative of the latter . Today we ’re in Amy Palmer ’s garden , looking at a small garden bottom that is a uncomplicated but beautiful solvent to a garden trouble most of us northern gardeners face : snow pile .
Hello ,

This is Amy Palmer once again from Bridgehampton , Long Island , NY . eld ago you bring out a little something from my garden(Check out that post here : highlight from a Long Island Garden ) . These picture show the root to a small job that we had at the conclusion of our crushed rock private road . In years past the nose candy plow in the depths of winter would dump pot of blow where you now see the bench and planting . We did not make a planting for the arena at the end of the driveway because we thought whatever we put there would be ruined by the weight of the immense C slew that would be left there by the plow in the winter clip .
Last class we decided to put in that field a arch planting that would vanish with the first toilsome frost or two , but then re-emerge each spring . The answer wasnepetaand Royal Standardhostas(Hosta‘Royal Standard ’ , Zones 3–9 ) . We add a terrace and two little lightweight planters . We curved the planting surface area since curves are always skillful than straight line in the garden .
Thought you might like to see the resolution of a problem arena that has yield us great pleasure . It always await so lone there with nothing at the end of the drive .

What come first : the plants or the bench ? Either way , Sarah found utter harmony with these stout plant and an refined workbench with slats that do n’t stop the view of the imperial nepeta heyday behind .
From another angle you may really see the vigor of this planting , and it ’s heavy to imagine that this very spot in wintertime is a heaping pile of blow !
Not every garden layer require to be an elaborate admixture of varied plants . If an region of your garden is giving your brokenheartedness , take a page out of Amy ’s Bible and make something simple but absolutely effective .

Even beautiful from behind !
The sharpness of a driveway is n’t the first position I would recall to pose back and slack , but who ever said our garden ca n’t bend and break the dominion a little ? Make design choices that you like and your garden will always count good .
Lastly , the view of the bed as you ’re commit into the driveway . What a wonderful welcome to the garden !
